Differences Between Steamed Brownies and Baked Brownies

Halo choco lovers,

You have ever tried steamed or baked brownies, haven't you?  They look like the same, doesn't it? Although they're nearly similar, they have some differences in recipes and ways of making. You should have known the differences between steamed and baked brownies, I suppose, since they taste equally delicious.

Do you know that actually steamed brownies is sponge cake? It looks like similar with baked brownies. Steamed Brownies is like sponge cake, but it is denser than sponge's. The batter was essentially the same as the baked brownies. Due to blackish-brown color similar to the Brownies, then it is called Steamed Brownies.

Recipes and ways of making steamed brownies and baked brownies are different. If a recipe and ways of making the steamed is applied to the baked, the result will not be brownies cake but it will most likely Sponge Cake. Steamed brownies is cooked with steamer pot or something that is kind of big pan with cover, while baked brownies is usually cooked with oven. Steamed brownies and baked brownies also have different texture. The steamed one has more moist texture, while baked brownies has more drier texture on the outside and usually sprinkled with almonds. Thus, those things make the two kind of brownies different.

Hopefully it can give you a piece of information about steamed and baked brownies. Bye-bye, Happy Monday all :)

Tips – How to Make Nice Steamed Brownies

Halo choco lovers,

Brownies cake is very popular in Indonesia. There are kinds of brownies, steamed and baked. Steamed or baked brownies taste equally delicious, and the result will be equally good in appearance. But you need to know the ways, so that you may succeed in making brownies either steamed or baked. Here are the tips from SoBrown Brownies:

• Prepare your brownie baking pan. Then put parchment paper that has been spread with margarine on it so that the result will be flat and smooth, and when it is cooked later it will be easy to remove from pan.

• Weigh carefully all the materials such as flour, sugar, egg, chocolate powder, chocolate block, dark cooking chocolate, oil, etc., in order not to fail to make brownies or different brownies recipes to try.

• Beat the brownie batter just until sugar is dissolved and only a little fluffy. Brownies do not need a lot of expansion so no need to whisk/shake excessively.

• To make the brownies are steamed, prepare a steamer pot and cover the lid with a cloth napkin so that steam does not drip into the brownie batter that will make your brownies sodden and not perfectly expanded.

• In steaming, you should use medium heat. Using too hot temperature in steaming can cause the brownies get bumpy and perforated surface. Steam it only in -/+ 40-50 minutes.

• If you want to make baked brownies, preheat oven temperature of 180 degrees Celsius to 190 degrees Celsius for maximum result.

• To make shiny baked brownies, melt chocolate blocks a little while (not to be too liquid) then pour into the final batter and stir gently.

• You may use margarine or butter so the brownies will be more good-smelled.

Wanna have a try? Good luck! :)
